KEEPING ON
KEEPING ON
by Ariana Kelly
They keep Super 8’s they keep letters they keep
the peace They keep the walk along the coast
the point of the sun the boot camp
of evening They keep primers and old notes and math
They keep epaulettes and then they keep
the rain They keep the books they keep hotels
their names whole fires They keep that terrace
by the sea They keep one thousand waving
They keep you in mind They keep the mornings
the machines Julian They keep the eighth
of powder They keep the dresser
on which it sits They keep telephoning they
keep hanging up They keep going off
They keep asking how can you not forgive
